Had a great ride with Bike-N-Gin! We went out to Brockport via the towpath. Lots of boats on the canal today! Many people were enjoying the towpath too...
In Brockport we stopped at Bicycle Outfitters and after test riding some bikes I finally got Ginny onto a new bike! I bought her a Raleigh "Route 4.0". www.raleighusa.com/wp-content/uploads/post-images/RB_2011_Route-4.0_W_Bronze_LG.jpg
The Route 4.0 is a solid, comfortable, mid-level hybrid style bike. Fenders are back ordered. The bike has Shimano shift components, suspension seat post, Avenir seat and grips, and a Suntour suspension fork. Nice equipment. I will be changing tires from Kenda K-192 w/Kshield 700x40c to something a bit more narrow in width perhaps a 35mm.
I bought Ginny her older bike, also a Raliegh ("Sprite 10"), back in 1979 or 1980, from George Renny's Bike shop on Pearl Street, near Monroe High School. She refuses to part with that original Raleigh bike. The bike is near pristine, and a good candidate used as a museum period piece. I have to go back to Bicycle Outfitters and bring the Sprit 10 back home. Fenders(back ordered) for her new bike were a bit pricey, -but they are a must!
