I didn't achieve my June goal of 600 miles and I am behind on my July goal. The weather has not been an impediment. 600 miles a month is a nice round number, but it represents an investment of time I can't seem to find.
The opportunities for riding have been about the same as last year, but there seems to be less time. Is the pace of life accelerating? No, I'm slowing down and re-prioritizing aspects of my life. Part of my lack of free time for cycling has been the time invested in bike modifications.
I am Re-evaluating my mileage goals, monthly and for the year. Thinking now that I will not accomplish the goals I set. I am hoping to do more rides with other avid bikers.
At this point I don't think I'll participate in the Highlander this year. The last few years the Highlander has been mostly a solo effort for me, and I'd rather not drive 100 miles just to try to accomplish a "solo" hundred mile bike ride. I will endeavor to be enjoying as many cycling opportunities as can be arranged without sacrificing home maintenance or other social obligations.
