An early ride start help keep the road heat from being overbearing. But it was hot by rides end!
Three recumbents and two Wedgies -Five of us doing RBC ride #88, which starts in Holley.
Dave (a new to me club rider), and myself each began our rides from our respective homes. Jerry, Jules, and Larry started from Holley.
Jules was a bit riled at his confusion finding the starting point of the ride. Dave 53 Y/O, the youngest of us five has biked the least this year and had some initial concern about accomplishing the tour.
Dave had also expected to do 85 miles round trip. I was expecting to do 71 miles. It turned out less due to abbreviating the Holley to Culvert Road and back to Holley portion to 44 miles. The ride to Holley and back from my house is about 20 miles additional.
The 5 of us seemed to ride well together and the distance being relatively flat, was easy to do. Heat was a factor by 11 AM. We stopped at a park in Albion for water. There some young people graciously gave us some freeze pops -wonderfully refreshing!
The Five of us parted ways after 44 miles back in Holley by the "Podunk" sign. With Jerry, Larry, and Jules going back to their motor vehicles. Dave and I continued our ride traveling on the towpath from Holley to Brockport, and took roadway the rest of the distance. We rode back together from Holley to the intersection of Hinkleyville and Pine Hill, at that point Dave headed East and I had a half mile North to get home. I finished the ride a little before 1PM.
2:30PM At home, the digital thermometer reads 94°F, the mercury style thermometer read 98°F -thats warm!
