-a ride with Jerry starting at the Parkway and Westphal Rd. Going South on Westphal and West on N. Hamlin Rd. -eventually as far as Transit Rd. From the end of Transit Rd. we walked through a ravine back to the Parkway for the return ride.
Along the way we were caught-up in 3 down pours.
The first downpour was a brief soaking. We stopped under a tree on Redman Road. There a couple in a garage called us over to wait it out.
On the second drenching we encountered lightning, rain and ice pellets. The downpour made it difficult to see the road. We had anticipated the storm and were heading North to an underpass on the Parkway -we were about 1 mile South of our destination when the deluge hit. Jerry attempted to wait it out under a tree -I pedaled on. The lightning was frightening! There was one more downpour, less intense.
At the 17 mile point we decided to turn back and call it a morning. The ride back to our starting point was quick and direct on the Parkway with a short turn onto Newco Drive.
