Joint pain has been building in my left buttock near the hip joint for about 3 weeks now. I'm no stranger to Joint issues: Left Wrist, Right Elbow, Neck vertebrae, Right Shoulder etc. Pain from Osteo-Arthritic knees was a decades long experience. Having had the Knees replaced years ago, those babies are working well. So experiencing joint pain is nothing foreign, but could it be my last batch of beer, "Gun Metal IPA" is adding new pain in my joints?
My last homebrew, I dry hopped and weighted the hop bag with 4 stainless steel roller bearings. After 4 days I removed the bag from the fermentation vessel and discovered the roller bearings had developed a gun metal blue patina.
Apparently, the hop acids discolored the metal and worse the beer has a distinct metallic taste. This beer is not being offered to anyone, although, I have been carefully sampling a glass or two per week. The metal flavor is minimal with careful decanting from bottle to glass, but... I'm curtailing consumption of Gun Metal IPA for the next few weeks.
