Another nice ride with Jerry.
We met at Steve's Gas and Go at Manitou and Frisbee Hill roads, we headed East from there. Westerly winds assisted our fast time to Irondequoit bay at an average time of 14.5 MPH. Those same gusty winds impeded my speed on the Westward leg home.
The most pleasant surprise was when I met Sunny at an intersection on the way back from the Bay. An exceptional treat after so many years of only fleeting Face Book glimpses. Sunny looked so fine in her new Rav 4...
ON the way back we made a photo stop at Stutson Street.
Jerry took some excellent pictures at that stop, including the panoramic image showing O'Rourke Bridge (included in this Blog report).
At Seneca Park I almost lost Jerry when he didn't see me waiting for him down in the Park across from the restroom. I have to keep in mind his shortsightedness is an issue when he doesn't wear prescription sunglasses. He didn't see me across the road sitting at a picnic table. Seems a large group of children at a pavilion by the bathroom made so much noise he couldn't hear me call out to him either. I had to chase him down as he pedaled off thinking I was ahead of him. A miss communication, but I do not wander off leaving riding partners behind. Hopefully He knows that by now.
Also on the way back we spent some time in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, watching a craftsman sandblasting names and dates into a headstone. Plus there was the headstone engraved "Sold", -someone's last name awaiting future reposing occupants no doubt, but an unusual graveyard image if the concept is "Buying and Selling.
Then there was the "shortcut" that put us on the divided section of Mount Read Boulevard. I almost executed a poorly timed Left turn onto Stone Road at the intersection of Mt. Read. For sure Mt. Read is a very busy roadway and it would have been safer to choose another path when on a bike. In retrospect we should have stayed on McCall, going all the way to Stone Road and then crossing Mt. Read , as opposed to riding that short distance on Mt. Read and having to negotiate that Left turn off of Mt Read onto Stone. Turning at any intersection without mishap is good. Turning at a less busy intersection is better!
Any way, I'm on to my second pint of Triple Hopped Canadian -and life is good!!
