I rode the Surly this morning to test the distance from Verdae to the North End and I also installed my new Brooks B-17 on the Straggler. I was below Velo Apartments and found a brown tabby with some yellowish discoloration. She was friendly but not enough to be touched. I wanted to get the distance from Verdae to the north end for my "ride your age" ride this winter. It is 17.65 miles, so I can ride the trail end-to-end twice to get my 70 miles. I ran into Ken riding north. I said hello but he didn't. Either he didn't hear me or I have become persona non grata. I sprinkled north of TR up to a light rain, but it was fine going back to TR. I stopped at the TRee House for some scrambled eggs, bacon, and sliced tomatoes with a café au lait. Ragan was outside coming in when I arrived. I said hello to Gene inside. Riding back Jeff H said hello when we met and I returned his call. The trail was wet from rain from Furman back to Blue Ridge. The saddle was pretty comfortable, so I'm glad that I got it.
