Since April, I have missed riding a bike only 6 days. That is 131 of the last 137 days I have ridden a bike! I am proud of that statistic. It's a commitment that borders on obsession.
Riding bike has helped me gain strength, balance, and stamina. It HAS NOT contributed much to weight loss! Weight loss is the best solution to my severely arthritic and deformed knees. Surgery will be considered only as an absolute last resort. I have used and abused this body. I am not trying to be young forever.
Getting older is a learning process. If you stop learning you start dying! In the aging process, first thing one must learn is to "compensate" for the inevitable changes caused by being alive. I guess the process starts the moment of conception! I'd like to get 100 years of productivity out of this body before moving on. But who can say?
Less food consumption, adequate rest, attention to nutritional needs, mental and physical exercise, and social interaction, equate to a longer, happier, healthy life!
Strict calorie counting tells me "I have been eating too much". What has changed this past couple of weeks, is a caloric intake reduction. I attribute recent weight loss mainly to: good breakfasts, fresh home grown produce, warm weather, and Ginny's homemade cookies! I am losing weight S L O W L Y! This morning, 227.6 pound!
Riding to eat is not my goal anymore. No! I am on a bike to LIVE and be an inspiration to others.
