This Thousand Island region is predominately characterized by Rock outcroppings, mostly Pink Granite, some Black granite, as well as Dolomite and Sandstone.
It's all those rock "outcroppings" that make the Thousand Islands area comprised of 1800 or so Islands. Very pictureque, some islands are no more than a rock sticking out of the St. Lawrence with a tree growing on it. The area is chock full of water enthusiasts.
We stayed overnight with Bernd and Joanne. The have a nice mobile home and houseboat/party barge. Ginny and me had a great time with Joanne and Bernd. While I was out cycling up to Chippiwa Bay. Ginny and Joanne went paddle boating around Morgan Island. Bernd is a great "grill master" cook. But Ginny's rack of ribs cooked at home and brought out to Kring point was the meal hit of the weekend. I missed out on Bernd's "Breakfast Sammy" while I was out riding about. Later, I showed Bernd my preparation technique for grilling corn and it was a big hit.
