Weather Conditions: A cool ride turned wet homeward |
|
A second soaking on the first week of the school year. With my quest is to make 100 commutes this year the pressure is on to bike to work even in iffy weather. I took a soaking earlier this week just waiting for Ginny to show for a ride back home Wednesday Afternoon. But today was epic!
Dark and foreboding was the sky Westbound, as I headed that direction toward home this midday. Along the way, some spattering of raindrops here and there. 5.5 miles into the ride and feeling lucky all the while on that long, straight stretch of C-P.T.L.Rd.
Pedaling hard southward, now nearly 20 minutes into my trek home, ahead lay a shrouded divination of the front, a misty gray cloud of a deluge only 1 mile ahead. Trailing the perceived track of the front, my hope was that it would continue on a southerly path and stay just beyond my progression. Although the front was seemingly moving South and East, it was moving at a pace too slow for me to avoid. Then, at a point hardly 2.5 miles from home, the cloud embraced and engulfed me in a soaking, hard, cold, persistent deluge.
