SCTAC, ICAR, Runway Cafe with Erica
I had a case of the dumbs today. I rode from home to meet Erica at the tennis courts. The Strava didn’t start when I pushed the button, so I lost the first 2 1/2 miles. I then realized that I told Erica to meet me at 10:15 so I could leave the house at 10. But I left at 9:45 and was there 15 minutes early. So I rode a bit then came back to the tennis courts. Erica bought a new carbon fiber Trek and I was riding my Surly. I am a stronger rider so I rode the heavy bike to try to even things out. She tore me up on a few hills, but the ride really wore her out. We rode south on the trail and worked our way to Lake Conestee Park. I forgot to restart the Strava when we left the park. From there we cut to the SCTAC. The road that the map shows is closed permanently. We climbed over some large boulders and walked to Perimeter Road. We looped around the SCTAC and turned off at the golf course on Delaware that runs into Main Street Conestee. We stopped at a convenience store in Conestee but the soda, water, and ice was out. I bought a 28 ounce Gatorade and downed it. We went to Mauldin Road and followed Ridge Road to Fair Forest and took it to the ICAR. We went to Verdae and took it to Rocky Slope. We went straight over to Haywood and stopped at a Spinx for ice water and refilled my bottle. We took Airport Road around to the Runway Cafe and stopped for lunch. I had the Runway Salad with Basil Soup and bought chicken fingers to take home for Cis. From there we took Keith to Woodlark and then Hillside to Laurens and back into the Park. I dropped off Erica and climbed the big hill home. This route had several stout hills and was a challenge for the both of us.
