Today I rode the Surly from the house to get up and down the trail. This is the first ride on new tires. I replaced the 700 x 32 Continental Gatorskins with a pair of 700 x 37 Vittoria Randonneurs. The Gatorskins are a better tire, but the rear had the sidewalls coming apart and a bare spot. They have about 4500 miles on them. I rode up the trail only leaving to loop around the lake at Furman. Ken posted on our group messages a picture of him at the Methodist Church in Travelers Rest today, so I stopped and took pix of me looking for him and messaged them to our group. From TR I rode on to the north end of the trail then turned back south. I rode back to loop the lake at Furman again and stopped at their cafeteria to fill my bottle with ice. I downed 3 bottles of water while there and filled it to take home. I stopped where we had the tire pull and took a picture there as well. I headed back down the trail and stopped at the F-86 to finish my water.
