 Swamp ROMP
This morning I took off to ride to the Cafe and join up with the Swamp ROMP. I'm still unsure as to how many rode today - Joe, Karen, Alice, Kathy, Bob, Elliot, then two others joined in later, Daryl joined us at Furman, and me. The two unknown men I have ridden with before, but I can't come up with their names. The group kind of splintered and regrouped up and down the trail. When we were riding through the Furman campus there was an oriental girl down on the side of the trail. Everyone passed her, but I stopped and asked if she needed help. She had misshifted and locked her chain to the big ring. I shifted the front derailleur back to the big ring and rolled it out. I shifted to where she should be fine and left it with her. She said "You no help - I be here two hours." We rode on into Travelers Rest and most of the group wanted to ride to the end of the trail. Karen didn't want to go to the end and the other two men were tied up getting to the restroom. The group took off and Karen and I rode to the Bistro. I got a BLT sandwich and a triple chocolate brownie for Cis. We took an outdoor table big enough for the group and sat there chatting while eating. The group rolled in about 30 minutes later, except Joe was gone. Nobody seemed to know what happened to Joe. I finally told. Them that I'd ride out to the end of the trail to see where he was, but once I was on the bike I saw him rolling in. He thought that Alice was behind him, so he had turned back to find her. Joe does worry about Alice as she is in her 70s and deaf. When he saw me he asked about her and I told him that she was at the table. We all ate and Karen headed for her car. The rest of us headed down the trial and we split up at the Cafe. I rode on home from there. I had a good time talking with Karen and learned a little about Emily. I also told her some more Meghan stories. It was a fun ride.
