Today, I went exploring along a section of the south-side canal pathway east of Spencerport. I followed the Heritage trail from Slayton Plaza to the Heritage Park. Continuing eastward, I found the old rail/trolley pathway. The old rail trail was mostly unmaintained and overgrown.
As I followed the trail, I passed under the closed Gillett Road overpass and continued along the path, ducking low-hanging scrub branches, swerving around loose rocks, rutted spots, and broken limbs. The path was marginally passable until I reached a swampy creek region (Larkin Creek). At that point, I doubled back to Heritage Park.
This adventure turned out more positive than my attempt at traversing a trail west off of Gillett Road back on December 9th, 2023
