 Swamp ROMP
This morning I left the house and rode to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to meet the Swamp ROMP. Six of us left the Cafe and started up the trail toward Travelers Rest - Joe, Kathy, Jeff, Arthur, Alan (new guy), and me. We rode out about 3 miles when I saw Seneca coming in behind us. The seven of us rode on the TR and stopped to see who wanted to ride on to the end of the trail. Some wanted to ride on adn others said that they would ride north and turn back when we met them. I was about to pass Joe when a "hot shot" rider on a racing Schwinn cut me off to pass without a warning. I chased him down and jumped on his tail the rest of the way up the trail. I think that he was a little surprised to see someone my size on a large touring bike chase him down and push him up the trail. After chasing down that clown I was far ahead of my group, so I met them coming back down the trail. We regathered in TR and headed back down the trail. Once we stopped at the Cafe they decided to eat at Mac's across the Main Street from the ballpark. Joe told Jeff that we would surround him on the Jeff, but I knew that Jeff didn't understand what Joe was telling him. When we turned off of the trail onto River Street I could see the look of panic on Jeff's face as he turned away from where they were heading. I told Joe to go on and I would ride with Jeff to get him there. We took a round about route to get there, but it was a route that he was comfortable riding. I had an Arnold Palmer made with pink lemonade and a spinach salad with pulled pork. The food was good and the service was very good (as opposed to the Playwrite where we ate last time.) We had a good time talking. When we left Joe and Seneca were riding back to the Cafe and I rodee with Jeff into downtown as I need to pass through downtown to ride home. I did see Bill D riding north on the trail as we were riding south, then I saw Peter and the Performance Group in th eparking lot at the Cafe when we returned to the Cafe before riding into town.
