 Out and Around the Trail
Today I headed down to the Park to do some wandering on the trail with the Trek. I rode to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery to check out the expansion that they are going through. They have taken over much of the building and ae spreading out. It is wall to wall with people many times. RIght now the cafe and grocery are split. They are waiting for a permit to open the wall between the two. The grocery has much more room and right now many of the shelves are not stocked. I assume they will fill up as their inventory increases. The cafe now has more room to sit and you can get in line without climbing over other patrons. I turned back and rode to TTR to see abut my whell. Nobody was there yet so I circled the block and ran across JJ on his way in. I talked to him at the front door. They think that the probem might be a split in the sidewall that opens up slightly under pressure. They are going to put another tire on it and ride it to see what happens. I asked him if they would true their wheel as it has a wobble and is touching the brake. He said to go ride and come back on my way home. So I rode on up to Travelers Rest. I stopped at Duke's and say "Hey!" to Kristy and get some ice in my bottle. I rode back down the trail to TTR and had them true the loner wheel. The bike rode much better once that was done. I also had raised the seat another 8th of an inch. I am getting the fit dialed in on this bike. I rode from TTR to the Cafe and had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with an oatberry shortbread and sweet tea. While there I decided to cut across the Sans Sousi area and stop at Velo Valet. Carlo was in, so I stopped to talk with him. Carlo and his wife Sarah run Velo Valet which is a mobile bike repair. They found an older building to lease and have fixed it up, so now they have a bike repair shop to go with the van and also sell bikes and parts. They also have it set up for riders to come in and hang out. So I talked with Carlo for a while and showed him my Trek. I told him that the frame broke on the Gary Fisher and how it broke and he remarked that I must put a lot of pressure on the drive train. He remembered that I had broken the rear flange on that bike as well. I guess that bigger riders put a lot more stress on the bike. From there I worked my way back to the trail and headed for home. Just over a quarter mile from home I woman was talking to the big white dog that barks at me in the morning. I found out that the dog's name is Toad. He is very large with long fur and all white. She told me that I must be her alarm clock. When she hears Toad bark at me then it is time for her to get up.
