I rode the Surly out Old Buncombe Road to north of Furman to meet my conversation partner Oscar, but he was a no-show. After I determined that he was not there and talked to some others while there, I decided to go to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe for a little lunch. While riding down I was caught by a rider Bryce from Austin, TX and we rode together for about 3 miles and we both stopped at the Cafe. We had a good conversation about the trail since he had never been on it before. At the Cafe he was supposed to meet his daughter, so we parted ways. I went in the grocery side and picked up some nice thick boneless pork chops, some ricotta cheese, and some pimento cheese. I took them to the cafe side and bought them along with a peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie for Cissi and a cup of lentil soup for me. While waiting for my soup Darilyn came by and said hello. She is a character. Once I had my soup, I called Short Bobby to talk with him about his doctor’s visit and update him about taking Bill to Atlanta. I packed my groceries in the pannier and headed for home. Kimberly caught me shortly after I left the cafe and we rode together as far as Free Hub Cycles just above the falls downtown. From there I rode through the parks and climbed the big hill to come home.
