 Swamp ROMP
Today I rode to Cleveland and Falls Park to get to the Cafe to meet the Swamp ROMP. On the ride across town I saw a Moped nearly bite the bullet. He had stopped in the straight lane but when the light turned green he didn't go. He decided to block the lane to make a left hand turn across the straight lane and th eleft hand turn lane. But when th elight turned green a semi that was bob-tailing stopped slowing down then couldn't stop in time to miss him. He did get stopped just beyond the Moped but up on the right hand curb.

At the Cafe the Swamp ROMP group looely assembled. I didn't know several of the riders and the introductions were a little sparse. I got some of the names and not other names. We had a flat tire right out of the gate. A guy brought a bike that has been sitting in the basement for years and didn't check the tires. We blew it up with a frame pump and he rode it on up to the Swamp Rabbit Station and pumped it up at the Spinners bike repair station. I had several unusual conversations while riding up the trail, but once in TR part of the group wanted to ride to the north end before eating. We had arrived in TR at different times, so the group that rode north was very spread out. I had been keeping the rear of the pack together, but decided to chase down the others when we rode north. I passed them all and waited at the north end and we regathered. We rode back south to Shortfield's where I had a roasted beet salad and a lot of iced tea. The group stayed and talked for a long time.

When we finally left Shortfield's th egroup was loosley gathered, but I noticed that JEff had been left. I waited for him and he and I rode down the trail far behind the rest of the group. We finally caught the group at the Swamp Rabbit Station, but Joe noticed that Alice was gone. She left Shortfield's ahead of the group and we hadn't passed her, so we assumed that she was ahead of us. We rode back down to the Cafe and Alice was waiting in the parking lot for us. I rode back into town with anotehr rider that we had picked up then cut away to cross downtown. Main Street was closed for a celebration so I had to skirt my way north of downtown to get home.
