 Bill and SRT
Today I drove to Brookdale to pick up Bill to ride his neighborhood. We had a nice little ride, but Bill seemed to tire quickly. We met a friend, neighbor, and fellow cyclist Keith while riding. Keith was also severely injured in a cycling accident. He was out walking. When we returned to Brookdale, we met George R who had just held a service for people at the center. George is getting very old and he certainly shows it.

After that I drove to the tennis courts at Cleveland Park to ride the trail. I saw 3 guys packing up tp leave the courts - Donnie S, Billy C, and Eddie P. They are all retired USPS that I knew. We chatted a little bit. Then I headed up the trail. I stopped often to drink and to wet my bottle. I also met Ken just south of TR headed south. I rode to the north end of the trail and turned back there. I stopped at the Sunoco station about 1/2 mile from the end, but they have no fountain machine and the restroom is out of order. I won’t stop there again. I bought a 20 ounce bottle of Gatorade and downed it there. I stopped at the restroom by the lake at Furman to fill my bottle from the cooler and took a picture from there. I passed a family riding south that I later talked to at the Cafe. At the pocket park I shortly shared a patch of shade with a young couple and had a nice talk with them. I also met them later at the Cafe.

I rode on south to the Cafe and stopped for a smoothie, but the line on the cafe side was very long. So I went to the grocery side and bought a 12 ounce butter pecan creme soda. It was very good, but sodas don’t sit well with me when riding. I may get one again when we have a pizza, but not while riding. After that the family that I passed stopped to talk. The dad said that his daughter called me the M&M guy (I was wearing an M&M jersey.) Then I met the couple that I had chatted with and we chatted again. From there it was 4 miles through the parks and back to the truck.
