It was a great ride with Gene and Jerry. We had a fabulous tailwind and a slight downhill grade heading North.
On the last ride with Jerry I was on the Quest recumbent and frankly it was a challenge for me to keep up with him. Today was just the opposite. Honestly, I would have preferred, and could have managed a faster pace. I'm faster on my Bianchi than my other bikes.
Speed is not what a group ride is all about when biking with friends, and we had some great conversation along the way. On the Northern leg, I could have easily managed a 20 mph pace, but my companions were more laid back today.
The turn South was problematic for a heavy rider like myself, but I pulled ahead in an effort to inspire the other guys to draft or match my pace. At the steel deck bridge on C-P.T.L.Rd. I stopped to wait for the two of them to catch up, but they turned off the Town Line at West Avenue while I then pedaled up to Burritt Road. We met back at Gene's house around the same time. After a bit of conversation, I biked back home from Gene's house in light rain.
