to Sea Breeze; Leaving the house about 8:30, I headed over to Jerry's house. After a brief tour of Jerry's results from horticultural prowess, we got on our bikes and headed out on N. Greece Road. We stopped to check the progress on a bridge project on North Greece Road. Then on to the Greece wood chip and mulch yard on Flynn Road. We passed Kathy Hammond who was out on her front porch, then on to Charlotte. We checked out the ongoing marina project as well as the old Stutson and River Streets, -Some definite revitalization going on. Over the river and into Irondequoit, past Camp Eastman and Durand Beach to Sea Breeze via the Hojak trail. After biking out to the light beacon at the Irondequoit Bay outlet, and a quick protein bar snack, we turned back. Although heat and wind took a toll as the ride wore on, I had a good burst of speed up Janes Road.
On the way back we toured an old Greece neighborhood where Joan and Jerry bought their first house. Notable was the still fine condition of the property. ->side note: "the house...on Belmont Rd (Jerry and Joan) bought from Tom Tubiolo, whose wife died of cancer in (her) early 30's and left two small kids. He moved back in with his mother. That was in 1964..." Jerry recalled the monthly mortgage payment was $125; -including real estate taxes and insurance.
