 Three Oaks Cafe
I rode the Trek from home to meet Ken and Mark at Cleveland Park for a ride up the trail to a new grill close to the north end of the trail. We headed up the trail and the ride was fairly uneventful. It seems that seldom happens! We looped the old dog park, then held to the trial. We passed through Travelers Rest and stopped the Three Oaks Grill next to the Sunoco station close to the northern end of the trail. We stopped in for lunch. I am being picky with my diet and wondered if they would have anything I could eat, but I chose from the meat and three menu - baked chicken, broccoli casserole, mixed veggies, and chopped collard greens. Fortunately I had my pack of toothpicks for when we finished. Since my accident nearly 3 years ago, my front teeth and left canines gather a lot of food while eating and need to be cleaned.

We were about to leave when my phone rang and it was Mom’s speech therapist. She wanted to give me information about Mom’s trip for the insurance. I told her that I was on my bicycle and wouldn’t be able to take information until I was home. I also told Mom about Aunt Karen being taken to Mercy in Des Moines.

We came back down the trail only varying to loop the old dog park. Ken had a sweater that he was going to leave at my mailbox, but he couldn’t find my house and waited along East North Street until I turned in and gave it to me there. I rode the final half mile hanging on to a sweater in a plastic grocery bag. It was fine except I couldn’t shift the front ring or use the front brakes. I put the front ring in the low ring so I would be able to climb last hill home. I haven't been riding much and this ride wore out my legs.
