I left the house riding the Trek today and headed to Cleveland Park to meet Ken. Don H was there as well to ride a little with us. We headed up the trail and I nearly took out a young woman going under the McDaniel Street underpass. There were three girls walking together toward us and she turned to talk to the others and walked into my path. One of them grabbed her as I was not going to miss her. Then we rode on up to the Pocket Park where Don turned to go back to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to meet some riders from Maine that he had been helping this week. Ken and I rode to Travelers Rest and turned around across from the Tandem Creperie. Ken asked if I wanted a snack (which I did) and suggested that we go back to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and see if Don was still there.
We rode back down the trail and when we pulled into the Cafe parking Elissa was waving us to the pizza shop outdoor seating. We parked the bikes and Don and Elissa were there having a drink. Ken went to the pizza shop for a beer, while I went inside and ordered a carrot tahini soup and bought a bottle of black cherry soda. We sat and talked for a good while then Don and Elissa’s neighbor Patrick jogged up. He added a lot to the conversation and we had a good time laughing. Patrick left to continue his jog, we cleaned up our table, then Ken and I left to finish up the ride.
We rode back to the park, but Ken rode with me to Laurens Road where I turned to find my way home and he turned back to go to his car. I climbed the big hill, but rode a little farther up East North Street and turned in to visit my friend Mr Navarro. He and I talked for a good bit, then I rode the rest of the way home.
