This morning I drove to the Gables and picked up Bill to ride after not riding with him in the last year. We drove to his house and wandered his neighborhood. We rode close to 6 1/2 miles then we needed to get back to the Gables for his lunch. Bill is stronger and more able than last year, but he doesn't have the endurance that he had after we had ridden often. We had a good ride and renewed our stories after a year apart.
I stopped at home for a bite of lunch then rode to Cleveland Park and cut across town to cross the Hampton Avenue Bridge and out the Orange line to Old Buncombe Road. I took it to the Lakeview Spur then went back to the trail. I rode the trail to the north end and had some fun back and forth with other riders. I stopped at the TRee House for decaf au lait and chatted with Lindy, Alley, and Kristen. The ride back down the trail was nice. I took Hampton Avenue after the Cafe and the Hampton Avenue Bridge then Washington Street to Broad Street to get back to Cleveland Park. I climbed the big hill home and since I haven't been riding or climbing much, I really felt it.
