 Swamp ROMP
This morning I rode from the house to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to meet and ride with the Swamp ROMP. The ride over was a hazardous ride. I had a car swerve out of his lane into my lane nearly hitting me to leapfrog a car that was taking too long at a light. I yelled aggressively at the driver for the car, but I don't think that he cared. Then on the trail I had an aggressive rider ride on my side of the trail while yelling at the slower riders on his side to get out of his way. I would like to have had a word with this clown as well. Once at the Cafe things settled down. Eight of us left the Cafe - Joe, Bob, Seneca, Karen, Rosalind, Mary Ann, Alice, and me. We rode as a fractured group. We kept splitting up and regrouping. We lost Roselind on campus at Furman. Karen was parked in TR and left us there. Joe, Mary Ann, and I rode to the north end of the trail, while Bob, Seneca, and Alice waited for us at the Sunoco station south of there. As we approached the north end I saw a group of brightly dressed little girls picking up trash, so I stopped to see who they were. They were American Heritage Girls. This was the ravelers Rest troop. My friend Meghan was with her troop in Fountain Inn picking up trash at a park today as well. I told them that they were doing a good job and were appreciated. The ride south was much like the ride north. Once we met at the Cafe again they decided to eat at Mac's Speed Shop downtown. I texted Karen where we were meeting so she brought her friend Emily over to eat with us. Roselind had rejoined us, but left us at the Cafe. The ride to Mac's leaves the trail and ALice had issues riding the route. She is deaf and hard to communicate with, so teaching her how and when to shift is a problem. But we finally made it. We had a good lunch with a lot of interesting conversation. I had an onion ring basket and a Fried catfish taco with several Arnold Palmers to drink. The group left to ride back to the cafe, while Karen and Emily drove home, and I rode across town home. It was a good ride.
