Today I drove to the Cafe and rode south to meet Jeff. He was about 1/2 mile south of the cafe and I turned around and we headed north. Our ride was pretty odd. Jeff wants to say "Hello!" to every person on the trail. So today I kept a running commentary with him about the responses that he gets. Some of them are pretty funny. I kept seeing Art today. I’m not sure why, but I saw him 3 or 4 times on the trail. We rode the lake at Furman and climbed the hill behind the lake. I came down ahead of Jeff and went out to the Bell Tower to take a couple of pix. Jeff didn’t see me and went on. I saw him across the lake and took off to catch him. He stopped at the exit from Furman to the trail and called me as I rolled in behind him. We rode on up the trail and turned around at the north end. Jeff stopped at the Sunoco just off the north end to get a drink and he bought me a bottle of water while in there. We rode back south continuing the "Hello" discussion. I finally told Jeff he would do better if he didn’t have a big, ugly guy riding behind him. Jeff had asked about a side trail on the way up, so we turned onto it and checked it out. There is a small park with a lot of workout equipment. We followed the trail and turned around in a firehouse driveway. One of the firemen was working on a hose in the drive and we spoke with him a few minutes. The fireman offered us ice and water, but we were fully stocked. We rode on down the trail and stopped for lunch at the Cafe. I ordered a bacon, tomato, and avocado salad and a peach smoothie. When Jeff came over he had ordered the same salad and asked me how it was. I told him that it was pretty bad and he should give me his! He said "I’m not falling for that again!" When we finished, he and I rode down to Linky Stone Park which is next to where Jeff lives. I rode back to the truck at the Cafe to finish the ride and saw Art parked next to the truck putting his bike in his car.
