I rode from home to the park, but cut across downtown to Old Buncombe Road. I cut through Poe Mill and stopped at the skateboard park, then went on to Old Buncombe again. I turned off at the Neighborhood Walmart and went through the Vinings to get to the path to Furman. Then it was back to Old Buncombe until it ended at the Gazebo in Travelers Rest. I went to my turnaround spot across from the creperie and headed down the trail. I stopped at the Gazebo for a good drink and refilled my bottle. While there I admired a girl’s border collie/blue heeler mix. Then it was on down the trail. I moved my Cateye computer from MPH to Average MPH. I was at 10.9 when I left TR and felt like I had been fighting the wind all the way to TR. Going south it still felt like I was fighting the wind, but I was rolling much faster and my average mph was creeping up. It was at 11.8 when I stopped at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and had an Apple Walnut salad with a pear smoothie. The salad was excellent with apple chunks on a bed of greens, with red onion, candied walnuts, and feta cheese with vinaigrette. The pear smoothie was good, but not as good as the Rosemary peach. I also bought a peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie for Cissi. I was still at 11.8 when I came into the parks and 11.7 when I got to the big hill. I really fought the big hill and only dropped to 11.5 when I finished it.
