 Hagood Fail Ride
Today was the 2nd year of Don's monthly Hagood Mill Ride. They were expecing 50 to 60 riders and had at least 125 riders show up. When they started riding they weren't following the posted route. They headed from Furman toward Dacusville. I can ride the hills berween Furman and Dacusville, but I hate doing them in a group. My advantage is to build up a lot of momentum going down the hills to attack the climbs. But in the group I have to ride my brakes all the way down the hill then climb the entire hill. All of that kind of climbing just kills me. After several of the severe hills toward Dacusville I turned back to do my own ride. I rode back to the trail at Furman and turned South. I rode down to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and had a bacon - basil heritage tomato - lettuce sandwich with a large slice of watermelon, a glass of sweet tea, and a peach shortbread. It sure was good. From there I rode south to Linky Stone Park then turned onto River Street and worked my way back to Old Buncombe road to ride back to Furman.
