I rode from the house today and I had a bad case of DLS (Dead Leg Syndrome). My legs are just tired. I headed to Cleveland Park, which has become an adventure riding through the park. Several of the roads and many parts of the trail are closed or detoured. They are working on the riverbed, burying parts of old sewer lines, replacing parts of the trail around the new Cancer Survivors Center, and are using the park as an entry point to dig down 100 feet and run a new sewer tunnel under downtown. So riding or driving thorugh the park has become an adventure. Once through the parks I headed up the trail, but I stopped at the Cafe going north and south to see who was texting me - Meghan going north and Cis coming south. I rode on up to Travelers Rest and over to McDonalds where I had a fried chicken salad with a cup of decaf and one of my homemade oatmeal nut bars. Riding south I got caught in a couple of strange traffic flows on the trail, but it was no problem. Even though my legs were very tired, my speed is slowly improving. I have gone from incredibly slow to very slow!
