I drove to Cleveland Park for today’s ride but the park was parked full. I ended up parking at the Cleaveland Street Y and riding over 1 1/2 miles to join the ride. Five of us left the zoo area - Ken, Mark, Steve Y, Steve S, and me. The park was jammed full of people and the trail was no better. The first five miles was very hard riding, making sure that I hit no other cyclists, joggers, or walkers. After that the trail was still very crowded but not like the beginning. Once we arrived at Furman, Ken wanted to ride around the lake while Steve Y rode on to Sunrift Outfitters to buy a bottle of chain lube. We looped the lake then headed on up the trail and stopped at the Tree House Coffee Shop for drinks and snacks. I had a cup of decaf with cream and cinnamon. I also had some mixed nuts and a granola bar. When we arrived, Don Y and Lynda were there. We sat and talked for a long time. When riding up I was a little overdressed, but heading back down the trail I was chilly. The ride south was crowded, but much less than the ride north. Don and Lynda cut out at Swamp Rabbit Cross Fit and the rest of us headed on back to Cleveland Park. I cut out by the old dog park and headed to the Y to come home. Because of the crowded conditions, this was a very hard ride.
